GSM ANTENNAE CONFIGURATION

There are three types of antennae configuration commonly available, the configuration of an antenna is selected relative to the individual application of each cell. The three types are Tri-sectored, Omni directional and Bi-sectored.

Omni directional Antennae

Omni-directional antennae use a single channel in a 360-degree range, these are typically used in rural areas, and the cells are either high power (Macro cells) or ultra low power (Pico or Micro cells).

Bi-sectored Antennae

These types of cells use a pair of very directional antennae; again each sector has its own channel number assigned.Typical applications are for motorways and main roads.

Tri-sectored Antennae

Tri-sectored antennae break the 360-degree coverage range into three separate 120-degree sectors. Each 120-degree sector is allocated a different channel number.Typical applications of these types of antennae are in city areas and areas of high density
